    What fresh fruits---Access Denied!
Yes I totally agree but I don't think that it is limited access because most grocery stores in urban areas do sell fruit but the cost for many people is too expensive. I have found myself in the supermarket trying to buy apples or oranges and looked at the price and was flabbergastered by how high it was. However, canned fruit is much more cost efficient and can feed more people as well. This does have an effect on our kids because they crave sugar and salt because these canned products are full of them. America needs to take a serious look at this and see what can be done.

    Saving the Earth
I love the idea of getting "paid green to go green". Money is a motivator for young and old alike and since this will benefit the school and community its a great idea. Also with a project like this I can see the students taking ownership of it because they will know the type of reward that they will get. I think students are already interested in it but dont know how to go about it.

    What fresh fruits---Access Denied!
Many urban communities have limited access to fresh fruits and veggies...even at their local supermarkets. What it forces people in these communities to do is make due with the less expensive processed foods available. This choice has lead many researchers to believe that this may be the cause to the rising obesity and childhood diabeties rise. To learn more about this problem go to:

    Saving the Earth
I was reading the NEATODAY May/June addition and it Ankita Rao talks about how getting kids involved benefts everyone in the community. It gets the students movtiated to want to learn, and supplies them with a drive to find jobs and work to benefits their community around them. The most interesting idea it presented was that when pitching the ideas of going green talk dollar signs. Money talks...and it is what drives any school and school district. Talking about how a school garden or greenhouse built in the school can provide funds for the school by selling fresh fruit the community (at a low cost) and promoting recycling program (like Terracycle) that can bring in revenue to the school is exciting and lucrative.

    This works for all grades!
The students in my class are 3rd and 4th graders. But though they are in a higher grades I think making a glogster using alliteration would be a wonderful idea. It is also a great activity for my students who are struggling with this concept because of impairments or gaps in premier grades. :)
