The African Proverb "It takes a village to raise a child" means a child's upbringing depends on the support of everyone on the community. Long ago, that actually meant the whole village raising and teaching children how to act and how to help to support their community. In the present day, it refers to parents, teachers, community workers, coaches, etc all taking a vested interest in helping to mold students to be productive citizens that help to benefit the community. But now technology has become apart of that village. With parents working longer hours, children watch more tv, play more video games, and spend more time on the computer than any other generation that came before them.

Now as technology becomes apart of this village, we as teachers, have to guide students in the right direction and make sure that technology is being used in the appropiate manner. Also, we have to use technology to engage our learners and to make sure that technology is benefitting them. These "Technology Natives" will need technology know-hows to survive in the world of the future. But what happens when you are a "Technology Native" but your technology exposure is limited due to the limited resources for whatever reason? This is the dilemma that many students in Title I schools face everyday and as teachers of these students it is our job to infuse technology into as many lessons and activities as possible. With this wiki we will explore the different types of technology that can be utilized in a classroom so that our students, who are less fortunate than their peers, can learn how to use technology and can truly say that they are "Technology Natives"!
